How the scan works

A real browser opens your page
Not a plain request: a full browser with an empty cache, like a visitor arriving for the first time. This matters, because most trackers only fire once scripts have run.

We click on nothing
No accept, no refuse, no scrolling. This is exactly the state authorities check: what leaves before the visitor has chosen anything.

We record what left
Network requests, cookies written, third-party scripts loaded. Every finding describes an observation, never a legal qualification.
What this scan does not do
A free tool claiming to cover everything is either mistaken or misleading you. Here are its limits, in plain words.
It examines a single page
The one for the domain you enter. A product page, a checkout flow or a blog post may load trackers absent from the home page.
It does not test refusal
We do not interact with the banner. A banner that ignores a refusal, a frequent and heavily sanctioned case, will not be detected here.
It does not see everything
A tracker firing after several seconds, on scroll or after an action escapes this measurement. A green result means "nothing observed", not "nothing to observe".
It is not legal advice
It describes a technical state at a given moment. Qualifying a breach is a judgement we do not make, and only counsel can.
Frequently asked questions
Is the scan really free?
Yes, with no sign-up and no card. The number of scans is simply limited per hour and per visitor, so the service stays available.
What does "before consent" mean?
A tracker subject to consent must only fire after an explicit choice by the visitor. So we measure the page as it appears before any interaction, since that is the state being checked.
My site shows a banner, am I compliant?
Not necessarily. A banner that appears while trackers are already firing blocks nothing. It is the most frequently reported breach, and the banner then gives a false sense of safety.
Is the score an official rating?
No. No authority issues a score. It is a risk indicator we compute from what was observed, to help prioritise what to fix.
What happens if my score is high?
Nothing automatic: the result is sent to no one. The report tells you what leaves before consent; it is up to you or your technical provider to decide what to fix.
Do you keep the addresses you scan?
We keep the domain name, the date and the result for twelve months, to monitor use of the tool. Neither your IP address nor the full page address is recorded.
Can you scan a password-protected site?
No. The page must be publicly reachable, without authentication. A closed staging site cannot be scanned.
How do I fix what the scan found?
Two routes: configure a banner that genuinely blocks trackers until the visitor has chosen, or measure your audience without cookies or identifiers, which removes the cause rather than adding a window.
