Guides
One topic per page, from the first script to the differences with Google Analytics. If you are starting out, begin with the installation.
Measure
Reading your dashboard
The dashboard reads from top to bottom: volume first, then where visitors come from, what they read, and what they do. Every row in a list is clickable and filters the whole page.
Setting goals
A goal turns a measured event into a tracked conversion. Click the star next to an event in the dashboard, and it appears among your goals from then on, with its conversion rate.
Following a journey with a funnel
A funnel counts how many visitors clear each step of a journey, and where they drop out. You define the steps by page or by event, in the order in which they must happen.
Seeing where your visitors click
A heatmap overlays your visitors' clicks and scrolling on a screenshot of the page. It is enabled page by page, on the addresses you choose.
Excluding your own visits
Add your IP addresses to the account exclusions, and your visits stop being counted on all your sites. The exclusion applies at collection, so immediately and with no effect on history.
Why your figures differ from Google Analytics
Pulsar almost always shows more visits than Google Analytics, often ten to forty per cent more. The main cause is blocking: extensions and recent browsers block Google Analytics far more often than Pulsar.
Compliance
Why Pulsar does not ask for consent
Pulsar sets no cookie and keeps no identifier that could recognise a person from one day to the next. The ePrivacy Directive therefore does not require prior consent, and no banner is needed.
Monitoring the trackers on your site
Pulsar regularly opens your site in a real browser and records the trackers and cookies set before any interaction. You are notified by email as soon as a new one appears.
External sources
Importing your Google Analytics history
Pulsar can retrieve your Google Analytics history and show it before your installation date. Year-on-year comparison therefore remains possible from day one.
Reconciling your Google Ads spend
Connect your Google Ads account and Pulsar shows cost, clicks and conversions next to your audience. Reading is done read-only, nothing is ever written to your account.
Share and alert
Sharing a dashboard
Turn sharing on and Pulsar generates a public read-only address, with no account and no password. You can turn it off at any time, which immediately cuts every link already sent.
Receiving reports and alerts
Pulsar sends a periodic report by email and alerts you on a traffic drop, a new tracker or a volume overage. Each message is configured independently.
